Bio

“If you want to get to know me, read my lyrics”

Monica Salci

Monica Salci’s music is a powerful blend of uplifting Pop, Faith-Based, Modern Country, Groove, and Easy Listening. Salci has been creating music of multiple genres since the age of 11. Her music brings joy, smiles, and healing to her listeners. Salci has paved an authentic path to kindness through her gift of music.

Monica Salci is the daughter of immigrant parents from Italy and Sweden who instilled a strong work ethic, family values and the importance of giving more than you receive.  By age 2, she took over the TV…not on it, but rather in front if it.  By age 4, she was participating in a traditional Swedish song and dance group, following her mother’s strong vocal and dance roots.  Monica’s passion for composing songs manifested at age 11.  Writing lyrics via poems and songs was an important outlet for the introverted Salci…who was much more comfortable listening than speaking. Through lyrics and melody, she is able to reach the depth of her soul in a way that cannot translate verbally; a true expression of self, thoughts, pains and desires.

Lyrically, Salci has been influenced by writers who wrote from the heart.  It is important to her to write clean and positive lyrics; her songs have always been written authentically and tastefully.  Her vocal influences were primarily Whitney Houston and Pat Benatar, followed by Stevie Wonder, Steve Perry and the list goes on.  Although Salci has always preferred groove-oriented songs in the vein of R&B, Funk, Pop and Soul, she appreciates and respects great vocals and songs of any genre.

“A great song or vocal transcends one’s taste in music”

Salci put together her first band, a mix of Funk and Pop, at age 23.  She performed for college type venues and made sure nobody’s back was against the wall.  Her fans could not help but smile and dance for hours at her shows.   After a couple of years with the Funk band, Salci craved to write and perform more mature songs with stronger vocals.  She started her second band, an 8 piece Latin/Pop band.  It was a thrill and honor for her to perform with high caliber musicians and be accompanied by three back up vocalists, and a percussionist, in addition to the traditional instrumentalists.  Unfortunately, the management group who discovered Salci quickly noted that she needed to be writing radio-friendly Pop songs to get to the next level.  After doing some soul searching, she conceded.  Although Pop was not her first choice, she made sure to stay true to her groove oriented and positive roots.  Within a few years, her 5 piece Pop band was sharing large venues with multiple national acts.  The band enjoyed a residency at BB King’s Blues Club in Los Angeles as the headliner, and at Universal Amphitheater as the opening act.  They played outdoor festivals and events to tens of thousands, had daily spins as well as live appearances on popular radio stations throughout Northern and Southern California and CDs sold throughout Tower Records.  Some of the venues included The Women’s World Cup, Coca Cola Rock and Roll Marathon, Mighty Ducks hockey games, Verizon Sprite Liquid Mix Tour, Day on the Meadow sponsored by 106.5FM The Mix, Rick Dees in the Morning on KIIS and live on E! Television.  The bands’ songs were placed on multiple TV shows on the MTV and WB Networks, they were sponsored by Martin Guitars, Taylor Guitars, PRS Guitars, Sennheiser Microphones, PDP Drums, Seychelles Shoes, Shure Microphones, Dunlop Pics, and Budweiser True Music as the National Budweiser Band.  Let’s just say, the Pop route really did bring joy and success to this band.

Three bands and many stages later, Salci decided it was time to focus on having a family.  Although she was no longer performing, she continued to work with several producers on co-writing songs for placement in Film and TV. After a ten year pause, Salci was suddenly and unexpectedly brought back to her art following the death of her mother.  She asked God to give her the strength to endure her deep pain, and through music, He did.  Shed Your Light was channeled one day as she sat in her music room with a guitar and a heavy heart.  Sunlight so intensely shone through the window, illuminating her clear path to both healing and inspiring others through Love, Smiles and Hope.  God shed His Light so strongly that Salci continued on to write 8 faith based songs on her newest album “Shed Your Light.” Going forward, Salci would love to share her gift of writing with artists in need of strong, positive and uplifting songs.

“It is my pleasure to spend my time spreading joy and inspiration though music”
